As of late I have become more interested in chiptunes and along with pixel art. and it came to mind, why does there seem to be no filters to create pixel art simply. so of course that quickly lead me to think about creating a program where in you feed an image and out comes a clean looking pixel art style image. of course immediately I think “oh that will be easy enough. I can even make a short list and that will work out perfectly!”
- grab the NES palette
- load image
- calculate distance between each pixel and colour on the palette.
- save as new image
- donezo!
So today I finally decided to do just that. the result of a few images…
Then I was sitting thinking…I have seen this effect before. SONOFA…it hit me…all I did was change the mode of the image. I then realised NES pallette does not mean nes grapics.
loading up a NES palette into photoshop gave me near identical pictures….it’s time to approach this in a different way it would seem.
and so my adventure begins.
